“Certainly children are a gift from the Lord, The fruit of the womb, a reward.” -Psalm 127:3
The past few nights Avery’s been waking up just two hours after falling asleep for the night. Parenting can be frustrating.
There have been many times when Mother Mary comes to mind. How did she do this whole mothering thing? I can’t imagine that Jesus never cried! I can’t imagine that Jesus always slept through the night!
What I can imagine is that Mary, most humble and faithful servant, held her precious boy close and sang Him a lullaby. I can imagine that she prayed.
I will strive to follow her example.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
