Prayer for Generosity

Tonight I sat in my warm living room, in my comfy chair, watching TV on a flatscreen while eating a tasty snack.  I would venture to say that most of you did the same.  I didn’t have to worry about being cold or hungry.  I didn’t wish for more, I had it all. I have it all. I am blessed to not want or need for anything.  I pray that I will be able to teach my children through example the gifts of humility and generosity.  Our time, talents, and treasures can be shared with others and with the Lord.

Prayer for Generosity (St. Ignatius of Loyola)

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will. Amen.
